Pinocchio is a fictional Walt Disney character from the 1940 animated film of the same name. Created by Geppetto and brought to life by a Blue Fairy, he is a living puppet who must prove himself to be brave, truthful and selfish in order to become a real, human boy. The character was created and designed by Milt Kahl, and many of the Disney crew.
Personality
Pinocchio is a very coy, innocent, good-hearted puppet with a taste for adventure and doing the right things, but he has a confusion of what is good and bad, which leads him into falling in with the wrong crowd when he is tempted easily. This problem often gets him into trouble, and he tries to do whatever he can to get out of scrapes. He is also brave often, but, in the fan fiction, The Wonderful Adventures of Pinocchio, based on the Walt Disney comic book, he has a rather severe case of aquaphobia, which is revealed in the episode of the fiction series, The Waterbound Puppet, after Tigger accidentally turns on Christopher Canada water hose by tripping over it, getting Winnie the Pooh and the gang wet. This causes Pinocchio to great yippee quis and cower. For example, in one episode of "Wonderful Adventures," appropriately titled, The Skunk's on You, Rabbit, Winnie the Pooh, Piglet and Tigger attempt to give Pinocchio a bath after he has been sprayed by a skunk, but it is stopped immediately when Pinocchio starts having a panic attack and trying to escape.
Nonetheless, Pinocchio cares deeply for his friends and sticks to them like glue.
First Appearance, 1940
In the original film, Pinocchio's story is told by his conscience, Jiminy Cricket. After Geppetto wishes that Pinocchio becomes a real boy, the Blue Fairy comes and grants the inanimate Pinocchio the gift of life. On his way to school for the first time, the young puppet is lead astray by the con artist, Honest John, a fox, and Gideon, his cat sidekick. And, what follows isn't very approving.
Talents, Hobbies and Experiences
Pinocchio has the ability to twist his body or his legs while dancing. His new, favorite toy is a small, purple yo-yo, which Kanga's son, Roo, gave to him to keep when the characters first met in the crossover story, Winnie the Pooh and Pinocchio, Too, and he teaches him how to play with it. Pinocchio is really good at panting and drawing, even though his writing shows up scribbly, because he doesn't know how to properly read yet.
Whenever he tells a lie, Pinocchio's nose grows, and he does this if he tries to find a quick solution to get out of trouble. Pinocchio also, unfortunately, experiences his first cold in another episode; Catching Cold, thanks to Tigger, when he opens the puppet's window in his room because he thinks it's too hot in the house. In the episode of "Wonderful Adventures," Pinocchio's First Birthday, Terence, Jiminy Cricket, Winnie the Pooh and the gang find out that the night Pinocchio came to life is his very first birthday and they decide to give him a party he'll never forget. It is mentioned by other characters that Pinocchio is eight years old.
